I am a working artist and have exhibited work in the United States and Mexico for many years. In 1984 I painted murals for the 1984 Olympics and more recently my work has been exhibited in Los Angeles galleries.
My interest is in documenting contemporary artists, specifically, I am focused on the creative process. I want to uncover what feeds the artist, i.e., personal history, training, dreams, money, etc. The interest has arisen from projects I’ve curated and collaborations I have participated in with many amazing artists. In 2009 I began a project called Atelier Visit in which I document conversations with artists in their studios.
Atelier Visit is an investigation of the creative process as our contemporary art makers practice it. The project’s objective is to document the creative process by interviewing, broadcasting and archiving video interviews of artists in their creative spaces. Video, written work, and photography make the core of Atelier Visit’s content. I originally planned to make a print edition but have postponed that component so as to include more artists.
